Deb Hawthorn, Board Secretary
Deb Hawthorn is a writer, editor, and group facilitator with a primary interest in justice, community resilience, and the co-creative aspects of social change. While raising her son as a single parent, she held a variety of jobs, including Director of Public Information at Bennett College and Office Manager for the Urban Design Section of Boston’s “Big Dig.” Since moving to The Upper Valley in 1993, she has worked on sustainability issues, served as Director of Outreach for Old Dog Documentaries, and managed her own small business.
Deb has served on the Program Committee of the American Friends Service Committee (Vermont), on the founding boards of Vermont Peace Academy and Sustainable Woodstock, and as a church trustee and convener of a social justice task force for North Universalist Chapel Society (UU) in Woodstock. Under the auspices of Transition Town WRJ and the Center for Transformational Practice, she facilitated monthly Dawn Visioning sessions from 2010-2012.
